Many small businesses were forced to close in the past year, but there is much to be learned from those that continued to thrive amid the pandemic. Nerdwallet, an American personal finance company, has identified four strategies that small business owners implemented to stay afloat amid the pandemic and are keeping in place post-pandemic based on the results they received.
By adopting innovative business models like e-commerce and curbside pickup, businesses continued to reach their existing customers and even acquired new customers that were keen to utilize the more convenient and safe option.
Investing in digital tools allowed business owners to reach more clients and learn skills that will assist them in the increasingly important area of digital marketing.
The pandemic also found many businesses reconnecting with their community and reaching out to assist. Building this bridge , post pandemic, is still mutually beneficial.
Lastly, many new businesses popped up based on the opportunity to utilize new and creative business models.
While we may never be the same, there are certainly some key take-aways for small businesses here. We must continue to evolve, adapt, adjust and learn to remain relevant and meet the needs of our community.
